Campi Ya Kanzi

(Chyulu Hills and Tsavo National Parks - Kenya)

General Description
Located between Amboseli and Tsavo National Parks, one of Kenya's prime game spots, Campi Ya Kanzi is a luxury tented safari camp as well as a project in eco-tourism and conservation. The camp lies in Kuku Group ranch, 280,000 acres of land owned by the local Masai.

The camp is centred around Tembo House, an open plan dining/living room with a huge vista. The interiors are tastefully and comfortably decorated with a combination of Italian and Masai décor.

The camp offers tailor made safaris rather than inflexible, predetermined safari schedules, allowing guests to make the most of their time at the camp and take part in as little or as many activities as they please. The camp is a perfect spot to relax, not to mention a brilliant spot from which to view the abundant and varied wildlife. Alternatively, guests may choose to take part in game drives, walking safaris, and a number of cultural and Trust trips among other activities.

Accommodation
Campi Ya Kanzi accommodates a maximum of 14 guests in six en-suite thatched roof tented cottages and in the Hemingway and Simba suites. Each tented cottage enjoys a different view, and accommodates one or two adults. An extra bed can be added for a child.

They feature either twin beds or a king-size bed, made at the camp with local logs. A table, two safari chairs, a colonial trunk, shelves and hangers for your clothes, and daily fresh flowers complete the interior décor. The suites feature king-size bed, and a clothes room between the bedroom and the bathroom. Bathrooms have double sinks.

All tented cottages are constructed of stones, fabric, and wood and feature a full elegant bath with shower, bidet, basin, flush toilet and hot and cold running water. Each tented cottage has a wide verandah to provide superb views of either Mount Kilimanjaro, the Tsavo Hills, or the Chyulu Hills.

Dining
The cook has been trained in the preparation of fine Italian cuisine, which is featured along with international and local dishes. All pasta, bread, biscuits and ice creams are homemade. Fresh vegetables are supplied daily from a small vegetable garden.

Bush breakfasts, lunches and dinners will be provided during game drives and other excursions.
